Hachette Reading Day

Hachette Book Group held there Reading Day Event this past Saturday and what a pleasure it was to attend. Having attended similar events with other publishing houses, this was my first one with them and definitely look forward to their upcoming.

If you have never attended one of the events before, I encourage you to attend. They are so much fun. Not only do you get an opportunity to interact with some of the most amazing authors out there today but you get an opportunity to get to learn about different books, meet other book lovers and converse and the best part is getting free books!

If you are as passionate as books as I am, than you know having a chance to be able to talk with, depending on whose attending, that author whose book you couldn't put down is such an invaluable opportunity. What I love so much as a reader is getting the chance to learn about authors that you may not have ever heard about. With there being so many books out there, I personally just added some great new selections to my reading list that I may not ever would've heard of. For those who are upcoming authors, I think hearing the journey of the writing process from others in the field give you an opportunity to learn and grow.

This event included authors: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Chris Culver, George Pelecanos, Nicholas Dawidoff, Lily Koppel, Joanne Lipman, Jeanne Murray Walker, Amity Gaige, Kathleen Kent, Benjamin Percy, Daniel Woodrell, A.S. King, Kate Locke and Elin Hilderbrand. They all were part of panels that discussed themselves, their works and joined the audience with an informative and entertaining Q &A.

So, overall I thought the day was wonderful. For me personally, I was able to connect with an author that I wrote about which was a wonderful experience. It gave me an opportunity to express how much I enjoyed her work. How many people get that opportunity? I know they will be having another in the fall, so check their website or I will post the information when it becomes available. So, if you have a friend who loves to read, bring them along. You'll have a great time!
