/THE SCIONLESS HOUSE (The Scion Legacy, #.5) Synopsis
Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened.
Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses.
Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie.
We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years.
But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect.
EXCERPT
I sleep for hours, and wake when the sky is tinted a pale blue. Sulla is watching the sunrise, O and Winston sleeping. It’s a quiet sort of stillness that makes me happy. I’m not a morning person, but I love the stillness. The silence of it all.
“Come here,” Sulla says, and I jerk. “I won’t hurt you, Farley. O is two feet away.”
“And you could snap my neck before I could scream.”
“Believe it or not, I want you alive. You—intrigue me.”
“Is that supposed to reassure me?” I ask, skeptically. He doesn’t respond, aside from a slight twitch of his lips, that tells me I’ve amused him.
Just what I was trying to do.
“I don’t know why I’m here,” I confess.
He’s staring at the sunrise like he hasn’t seen one before, but at my soft words, he turns those strange eyes on me. “You are here to be a change.”
“I’m not sure if that’s a good thing,” I say dryly.
“It is. Anything that shakes up the Old Man is a good thing.”
I study him. “You don’t like your Patriarch, do you?”
He gives me a noncommittal shrug, and turns his gaze back to the window.
“I thought all princes loved their patriarch.” I say softly.
He laughs at that, “The first thing to learn, little one, is that the lies we tell the humans are very rarely true when the house doors close.”
“Sulla,” O snaps, and he laughs again, turning away.
“Easy, O. She knows as little now as she did five minutes ago.”
“And she’s getting a little tired of that,” I add and O looks away. We’re easing through a small, deserted town and he seems tense. But he’s ignoring me, watching as the limo crawls up a hill like a giant black beetle.
THE FIRST FULL-LENGTH NOVEL IN THIS SERIES -- THE BLOOD SCION -- WILL BE RELEASED NOVEMBER 24TH.
THE BLOOD SCION Synopsis (The Scion Legacy, #1)
I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them.
I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play.
And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us.
The Houses. And their Scions.
Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death.
And somehow, I am one of them.
